CEREC® Same-Day Crowns and Bridges
One of Dr. Despain's priorities is staying current with the latest proven technologies that benefit our patients' experience and oral health. CEREC® technology is one example because it allows us to streamline the process for getting a dental crown from weeks to hours!
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, which means we fabricate your crown, bridge, or veneers in-office during a single appointment.
Skyview Dental is Moses Lake's premier dental practice and is proud to be one of the only offices in the area using same-day crown technology.
How We Use Dental Crowns and Bridges
Dental crowns and bridges restore your smile's appearance and ability to chew comfortably. Crowns cover and protect a damaged tooth, while bridges replace one or two missing teeth.
Crowns are also called caps or tooth caps because they completely cover and conceal a tooth. Our crowns are made of porcelain or zirconia, making them durable and easy to custom shade to match your smile.
Dr. Despain commonly recommends dental crowns in the following situations:
- Cover a tooth with a cavity that's too large for a filling alone
- Support a broken, cracked, or worn tooth
- Strengthen and protect a tooth after a root canal
- Restore function and appearance to a dental implant
- Support dental bridgework
- Improve a tooth's appearance for aesthetic reasons
A bridge is a dental prosthetic that replaces one or two missing teeth in a row. A natural-looking artificial tooth sits in the missing tooth gap and is held securely in place by crowns attached to healthy adjacent teeth.
How We Make CEREC Crowns and Bridges
Instead of messy impressions, Dr. Despain uses a digital scanner to take 3-D virtual impressions of your teeth. The virtual model allows him to design your new crown or bridge in the software directly. An in-office milling unit receives the information and mills your custom crown while you wait.
Getting a CEREC restoration takes 90 minutes to two hours, and fabricating it to our exact specifications is the most time-consuming part of the process. When it's ready, our CEREC dentist checks the final crown or bridge for fit, makes adjustments, so it fits perfectly, then bonds it securely to your tooth.
The result is so seamless and natural-looking that no one will notice your dental work. You can chew on the tooth comfortably again and, with proper care, your restoration can last 20 years or longer.
We Take All the Time You Need
We devote our attention exclusively to you and your needs during your appointment. If our dentist in Moses Lake recommends a crown or bridge, he will take the time to explain why and how it will benefit you.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so Dr. Despain uses dental x-rays and intraoral images of the tooth to show you what he sees and help you understand why it's in your best interest to restore it.
